Paris is delightful for so many reasons, and one of the fascinations with the city for me is the doors. As you stroll the streets, you’ll notice so many styles of doors, and such character to them. In a city known for it’s clean, white architecture, the doors can add a pop of color.
Even the neutral colors add intrigue to a building.
My favorite doors are at the Cluny Museum.
Just look at the hardware on these doors!
We stayed near the Sorbonne, and these doors do not disappoint. Here are some views from our walks up and down this street where the school takes up a long block.
I think my interest with the doors of Paris goes beyond architecture and color. It fires the imagination to picture the people who have gone in and out over the years — sometimes over the centuries.
Paris being so rich in history, of course some of the doors of speak of battles and heroes. Plaques of remembrance tell what happened near these Paris doors.
How about you? When you see a worn door, do you wonder about all the comings and goings that door has witnessed?
