The Summer Wind

The summer wind, came blowin’ in, from across the sea
It lingered there, so warm and fair, to walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song, and strolled on golden sand
Two sweethearts, and the summer wind.
— Johnny Mercer

This week’s song invokes images of the ocean, the ending of summer, the loneliness that comes with lost love. We traveled to the Atlantic Ocean 2 years ago and took in the sunset on the last day of summer.

The beach lay deserted after the crowds of sun seekers left. Their footprints remained, but no one strolled along the sand that evening.

I’ll tell you, though, even the last strains of the summer wind felt refreshing. There goes the last of the sun! And summer’s gone . . .

Linking up with a song-inspired party, Song-ography, where the theme this week is “The Summer Wind” by Johnny Mercer, recorded by Frank Sinatra. Photos are edited with Kim Klassen’s textures Storm and Kristen.

Stunning skies. I just could picture being there on that deserted beach enjoying the last rays of the summer sun. Beautifully interpreted.

You captured that emotion in your image-of fleeting summer and love. I am lucky to live close to the ocean and there’s a beach I go to in off-season much like this one you picture. When I am able to have it all to myself, it feels like the greatest gift-like being in a movie. Nicely done.

Such beautiful captures that evoke the end of summer and a bit of sadness that accompanies that reality. The textures you used are perfect for these shots. The mood in these shots is captivating. Thanks for joining in on Song-ography!
