Onward, By All Means

Here are my 5 randoms for this week.

1. I love caramel apples. More than apple pie or applesauce or apple crisp. These fancy apples look intriguing in the store window. But I think I’d still rather have just the caramel and the apples. We did go inside the store and ended up with cups of gelato. Yum!

2. My Friday find is my new mug with the paw print of Atticus M. Finch.

He is the mountain climbing dog whose story is told in Following Atticus. This year, Atticus was diagnosed with cancer and had a “toe” removed. He’s in chemo now. “Onward, by all means” is the motto of Tom Ryan, his owner. Onward, through cancer and surgery and still onward, climbing another mountain. We’ve battled the same kind of cancer this year. Yes, onward, by all means. I’m going to treasure morning coffee in my new cup.

3. It rained here yesterday. We haven’t had rain since maybe back in April. (No one can remember exactly.)  We got a whopping .07 inches. So it took me an hour longer than usual to drive home. When it rains (however slightly), the freeways clog and halt. Traffic is paralyzed. Today we’re back to sunny skies, normal traffic.

4. I’m looking into joining a gym. In a few weeks it’ll be dark when I get off work. No more runs around the schoolyard. Do you belong to a gym? What do you like about it? Any advice?

5. We are watching The Voice this season. I love that the coaches encourage the singers, even when they don’t choose them for their team. The singers head home disappointed. But something positive is said to each singer. The coaches are kind. We can never have too much kindness in this world. A kind word can be just the thing to inspire us onward, by all means.

How is your week going?

Linking up with Random 5 Friday and Friday Finds. The Atticus mug is available from Mojo Moose Gear; part of the cost goes to animal rescues.

Love the mug and the story behind it.

On gyms — I jog our lane every morning at sunrise — but I don’t work outside the home — you need to do whatever works for your schedule.

I did belong to a gym until a few years ago and I liked the discipline it took to get me there plus how I felt after doing the workout.

you haven’t had much rain? Well, I wish I could send you some of ours, Sharon. It has wrecked plans for the week and now the weekend.
I love ‘The Voice’. It just goes to show you that judges do not have to be ugly and mean like on some shows I have watched. There’s just too much ugly in this world!!

Love the mug and the story behind it.

And oh my goodness, what a variety of apples! They all look pretty good, but I agree, just a plain old caramel and apple is perfect for me. Although I wouldn’t turn one of these down. Lol.

The Voice is one of my favorite shows. I don’t watch any of the other “music” shows. The apples make my mouth water and love your new mug and the story behind it. Go Atticus. Have a great week.

Ooooo….those apples look yummy! I’m a big fan of candied apples!
I have never watched The Voice … I think I got burned out watching too many years of American Idol….which I did not watch at all this year!
Have a great weekend!

Great random thoughts here. – I’ve never read the book about the dog but will keep it in mind. – Never have gotten into The Voice and gave up on American Idol after Paula left. Those apples look so yummy. One would certainly need a Gym after eating too many of them!

I just can’t imagine what it would be like to live without rain…:D I love caramel and apples together, but have never been good at eating those things…I’ve heard people talk about the Voice but have never got it. I stick with Mad Men and the Good Wife and Breaking Bad (now over). Love your new mug. Onward, by all means!

Hi, Sharon! Love the apples, rain, and fall! For exercise, I walk with a colleague during lunch–it’s all we have time for (she has a two year old, I am raising a 3 year old)! I am grieving that What Not to Wear is in its final season!

Oh wow, those apples intimidate me, lol! I’d choose something simpler as well. We had plenty of rain last week. Now it’s sunny and warm and perfect for photography. 🙂
