Finding Wonder

Do you tend to live more in your mind or more in the world of your senses? This week’s random 5 is something that’s delighted each of my senses in the last week. I  live a lot in my thoughts, and I’m often oblivious to what I could be seeing, hearing, or smelling. I’m trying to be more in tune with the wonders around me. So here goes!

Seeing. We opened the front door to find this sitting on the porch.

This elegant bouquet from my coworkers cheers me every time I glance at it. The colors are vibrant, the flowers detailed and delicate.

Tasting. Chocolate milk. Not since my youth have I indulged. When someone offered to bring me some, I said yes. I felt like I was 9 years old again. Punched out the carton, inserted the straw, sipped. Ummmm, so rich, so yummy!

Touching. On a walk around home, I felt the sun, which I often do notice. Then I realized that a gentle fall wind was blowing. I took time to think about how that felt on my face and bare arms. Wonder-ful.

Smelling. Ah, the fragrance of a sweet cinnamon pumpkin candle. Perfect.

Hearing. This week I’ve talked on the phone with both of my kids. Their voices, traveling all those miles to my ears, are two of the sweetest, most welcome sounds in my world.

How about you? What in your world have you been enjoying this week?

The flowers are beautiful. The flower in the top picture is one of my favorites, but it makes my husband sneeze!

Chocolate milk is great but I prefer coffee milk, and I drink that every day. 🙂 Lovely flowers, what a nice gesture! 🙂

The pumpkin candle sounds yummy (I love scents like that) and how fabulous that you got to talk with your kids.
