Beauty for the Day

White tulips

For the beauty of the earth;
For the beauty of the skies;
For the love which from our birth over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.

These soft white tulips perfectly display the beauty of our earth, don’t they? These were a gift from my family. I carried the vase from room to room to see how lovely they look with different backgrounds.

Unassuming, not flashy, just calm and gentle, they decorate the day. They remind me that my family surrounds me with love, and that is the greatest of life’s beauties.

Here is a setting of this old hymn text, with music by British composer John Rutter.

How about you? What’s decorating your day today?

For some reason the stores do not have many tulips in yet… I am totally needing some in my home. I think I might have to go hunt some down later this week. Yours are so soft and beautiful.

They are beautiful. None of the photos are “bad” but I like that red background best.

I bought an ASUS ROG GL 552VW-dh71 15 inch gaming laptop. In researching this I discovered that a lot of photographers use gaming laptops because the specs work well for photo editing software. Asus and Acer brands have good reputations for hardware. My laptop also has a cd/dvd drive included which makes it heavier but I wanted one as I have folks asking for a cd of my photos. Mine comes with 16 gb memory and I can upgrade the memory to 32 if needed or I can put in a solid state drive (SSD). Not many computers have that choice nowadays. This should mean that my laptop will last a long time as gaming laptops are known to do.

Now the battery life is only about two to three hours if you are not plugged in so if you are looking for a laptop that will function on the go, this is not the one for that. Also make sure you use an external mouse cause the trackpad is not good for slow scrolling or detail work on photos.

As a bonus, Blessing says my new laptop looks cool with its black and red color scheme. The keyboard is backlit so in a dim room should help with seeing the keys but I find it still hard to see.

There is a newer version of this out and there is the option to go with a 17 inch screen but since that option was more expensive I chose not to do that. Also my laptop bag is for 15 inch and I did not want to purchase a new bag-I wanted that money to go into my computer. I got mine for less than $1000 which is a good deal I thought especially when you look at the original price. Mine is a 2015 model so an older model which also helps keep prices down.

And the screen is IPS matte. I noticed right away with the matte screen that if I use the mask overlay with brushes, I can see the mask so much better than with a glossy screen. This is not a touchscreen…I did not want that but they do have models that are touchscreen if you prefer that.

Any other questions you know where to find me:) even if that was just information overload 😉

They are truly gorgeous! I love how tulips photograph. And white ones are especially lovely. A perfect pairing with the song.

The tulips are lovely with any and all backgrounds – I like the idea of moving them about. I have a lovely bouquet of daffodils today – a gift from my husband last night. They are sitting cheerfully on the dining room table.

Thank you for leaving your blowers on my blog! Love and appreciate your prompt response:) I had white flowers for my bride’s bouquet, so I’m partial to white. Am originally from Holland and think I connected in the past with your blog because of your so-very- Dutch or Flemish last name:) Hope to see you back at Seasons next week (Mon-Wed).!

Lovely tulips! Your photos of them are beautiful. I have yet to see white tulips in person. Next to my computer are daisies from our garden. And downstairs is a jar of freshly picked yellow and pink-white freesias from the back.
