A Little Color

posted by Sharon July 1, 2014 13 Comments

Do you have color blooming where you live this summer? Our winter was dry, and even flowers that should be blooming now have quickly come and gone. The neighborhood nursery that was brimming with flowers in May now has wide rocky paths, bare ground, and so few healthy blooms. One rose here or there stands among all the bedraggled ones.

After the abundance of spring, it’s sad to find so little now. But the scarcity doesn’t diminish the beauty of what remains.

Sometimes it’s so easy to find life’s color. We’re surrounded by it. Every path is lovely and sweet. Other times are dry. It’s much harder to find, but almost always there’s a little color–somewhere.

How about you? How does your neighborhood look these early summer days?

Oh, that’s too bad that you don’t have the abundant colour of summer. But you’ve found some gorgeous flowers anyway!

Your photos are beautiful! You are right, beauty is there even in the dry times if we take time to notice and have eyes to see.

What beautiful photos! I like the blurred backgrounds, which really make the flower the focal point. Glad you have some beauty to enjoy.

Gorgeous!! Outside my building we have roses and tons of big lilies – so pretty after the long white winter!

Beautiful color. Unfortunately, we had a lot of winter kill of plants in my area. So there are many bare places now with just a mulch cover. But, the short spring flowering was very nice. My lilac was beautiful and fragrant for less than a week. I really like your photo in the portrait orientation of the rose. Wonderful.

Beautiful images and gorgeous texture work! It’s the same where I live too – except too much water for us – the flowers bloom and fade away quickly. Thankful for flower shops this year 🙂

What remains is beautiful! I love each image. We’re still looking pretty lush except for the grass that is turning brown. But in 2-3 weeks, I fear we’ll have that parched look.

Beautiful flowers. I think not having many in bloom makes them stand out in their beauty all the more.
